1. FLORIDA BAR RULES 10-2.2(c)(2) – DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
(A) At ECOS Nonprofit, we are not lawyers and cannot provide legal advice. We cannot tell individuals what their rights or appeals are, how to testify in court, represent anyone in court, or appear before USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services).
2. (B) Florida Bar Rule 10-2.1(b), which governs the Florida Bar, defines a legal assistant or paralegal as a person qualified by education, training, or experience who works under the supervision of a member of The Florida Bar and performs substantive legal work specifically delegated by that Bar member, for which the Bar member is responsible. Only those who meet this definition may be referred to as paralegals. ECOS Nonprofit hereby informs the public that it is not a legal assistant or paralegal, nor are any of its employees or volunteers considered legal assistants or paralegals under this rule, and therefore, none may refer to themselves as such.
(C) ECOS Nonprofit informs the general public that we can only type into forms the written information provided by clients in the blank spaces. In other words, we can only transcribe the written information provided directly by our clients into the blanks on the forms. ECOS Nonprofit cannot provide answers to questions on forms and can only transcribe the information provided by the client.
3. ECOS Nonprofit is neither an accredited representative with the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) nor affiliated with USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services). We cannot advise clients/consumers on how to answer questions or complete forms beyond the written information they personally provide. We cannot represent any individual before a government agency or immigration court. We do not offer assistance in obtaining benefits in any immigration matter.
Fees for form transcription do not include payments required by the Department of State, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, or any other government agency. ECOS Nonprofit cannot submit any immigration forms to the USCIS office.
4. ECOS Nonprofit is not a law firm and does not act as your attorney. We do not practice law, and you will represent yourself in all matters handled through us. Although we review documents and information you provide for typographical or transcription errors, we never review them for legal sufficiency or provide legal advice based on such content.
5. ECOS Nonprofit cannot provide general legal information. ECOS Nonprofit advises the general public that if you have questions about the immigration process, you must consult a licensed attorney, as we are unable to provide legal advice and are not authorized to engage in the practice of law.
6. ECOS Nonprofit does not intend to create an attorney-client relationship. By using this website or our services, no attorney-client relationship is created between you and ECOS Nonprofit. If you require legal advice or representation, please contact an attorney specialized in immigration law.
7. If you need legal representation, you must seek a licensed and active attorney through The Florida Bar or the bar association of the state where you reside. To verify whether someone is a licensed attorney eligible to practice law in Florida, please visit www.floridabar.org
